Holy Tradition Through the Fathers: A Few Words

Welcome to Christ the Cornerstone, where He reveals Himself through the testimonies of His Apostles and Other Holy Fathers.
Why the word "cornerstone"?
See Blessed Theophylact's Explanation of the Holy Gospel According to Mark, Volume II in the series: Bl. Theophylact's Explanation of the New Testament, tr. from the original Greek by Fr. Christopher Stade, Chrysostom Press, House Springs, MO, 1997, pp. 102-103 in explanation of 12: 10-12:

For the stone is the Lord Himself, and the builders are the teachers of the people. But He whom the builders rejected has become the head of the corner, the Head of the Church. For the corner is the Church which joins together and makes one the Jews and the Gentiles, just as a corner mediates and joins two walls to each other. This cornerstone, the Church, is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes, we who believe. Yet among those who do not believe, the Church and even its miracles are slandered. But the Church itself is a miracle, formed out of miracles, the Lord working together with the apostles and confirming the word with signs following.

In the explanation of Mark 15: 22-28, which describes the fulfillment of Scripture, the Lord's crucifixion with the two thieves, Bl. Theophylact closes the discussion with:

The Lord is crucified between two thieves, for He is the cornerstone joining us, Jews and Gentiles, together. [id., p.135.]

In the pages of this site, we will proclaim through the mouths and writings of the Holy Fathers of the Undivided Church the Gospel of the Lord, our cornerstone, our Christ Who unites us in Him. No personal views will be given, only the opinions of the Fathers, whose writings and/or testimonies through their martyrdom serve continually as our fountain of inspiration on our journey toward the objective of Holy Orthodoxy- deification. You are invited to share in this spiritual journey.

the unworthy,
